Imagine you just got out of your fourth period class to see students rushing together, all going in one direction. You ride the wave of kids and land at the quad with dozens of booths around you, each one with a pitch and paper for you to join their club.
Friday, Sept. 26 was Maria Carrillo High School's very own club day. MCHS has one of the largest club scenes in the district. These clubs are diverse and a big part of the culture here. Many people make life long friends and being a helpful hand of any club looks quite good on college applications.
One new promising club is the Literary Club. They are going to start many programs this year helping young kids and their peers with reading and writing. Another club is the animal loving Citizen Science Club which performs fun experiments.
Interested in coding and robots? In the 4O4 Found Club, you can learn the basics of coding and even help teach kids at the library. There is Al Club and Robotic Club where you can be introduced to the world of artificial intelligence.
Do you want to connect with people like you or are you curious about other identities? There is an Asian and Pacific Islander or AAPI Club. There is also the Black Student Union and GSA or Gender Sexuality Alliance. The M.E.Ch.A. Club is an organization across multiple schools that celebrates Latinx cultures. These clubs host parties and events and empower their community.
Every club really outdid themselves on Club Day with their stands and there are dozens of more clubs that were listed here. There is at least one club for everybody and they all should be listed on the MCHS website. So don’t be afraid to join one!
