Homecoming is one of the highlights of the school year, and not just because of the actual dance. A big part of the excitement is the proposals and posters, so don’t pass up the chance to dazzle your date with a killer sign!
Maybe you’re an avid movie lover– if so, there’s no shortage of poster ideas that would be the perfect fit. Beloved kids' movies are always a safe bet, as posters reading “Wybie by yourself when you could be with me for Hoco” (Coraline) or “Are you up for Hoco?” (Up) are both solid options. And for something outside of kids movies, Juno is a beloved hit that could go along with a poster saying “Cause you’re, like, the coolest person I’ve ever met.”
As for music lovers, there’s a poster idea for every genre. TV Girl fans might be inspired to adorn their poster with the phrase “Us lovers should rock at Hoco,” while a Mazzy Star themed sign could read “Would you be my angel at Hoco?” For The Cure, there’s not one but two ideas to choose from: “I would disintegrate if I didn’t get the last dance with you at Hoco” or “Hoco with you would be just like heaven.”
Of course, there’s plenty of ideas that aren’t media related. A solid alternative is always to go the food-themed route, perhaps with a poster declaring “Hoco would be a Baja Blast with you” (accompanied by a Taco Bell Baja Blast, of course). With several nearby Wingstop locations, another great option would be to propose with a sign saying “I don’t know how to ask so I’m just gonna Wing It- Hoco?” Of course, it doesn’t have to be fast-food related. “Can I be your perfect match-a at hoco” is a great option as well.
For the athletic types, there’s an idea for every sport. Cheer? How about “Will you tumble into homecoming with me?” Or maybe golf: “Being your date to Hoco would be a hole-in-one” is perfect. And finally, all the volleyball players out there would surely love to be asked, “Can I set us up for Hoco together?”
Finally, to round it out, posters accompanied by a gift are always well appreciated. There’s no rules to this, so feel free to follow your heart, but a stuffed animal is a great option and can pair with a variety of poster ideas. You might consider a “Let’s make people jelly at Hoco” sign with a Jellycat to go with it, or you could give the gift of a lady bug stuffed animal and write “Sorry to bug you but will you be my lady at hoco?” You may also want to play into the recent craze and give your date a Labubu; if so, the sign to go with it could read “Be my bubu a la hoco.”
Making a homecoming poster and planning out the proposal might seem scary, but hopefully these ideas have made the process a little easier. Above all, the key is to have fun with it and enjoy this lighthearted high school experience!
