October has been a month rich with new music across the board, from R&B to Rock to Electronic; here’s a quick recap of some notable new albums.

Daniel Ceaser dropped his fifth studio album Son of Sergy including songs with artists ranging from Yebba and Blood Orange to Bon Iver. The R&B singer draws on alternative-rock, jazz, and reggae in this album.

Last year, Leon Thomas cemented himself as the influential R&B artist he is with his hit single “MUTT” and his Grammy win for his work on fellow R&B singer SZA’s song “Snooze.” Thomas has quietly worked behind the scenes with artists of the like of Ariana Grande, Drake, GIVĒON, and Rick Ross. This October, he builds off those successes with PHOLKS, a love-child of his soul, R&B, and psychedelic inspirations.

Singer-songwriter Alicie Phoebe Lou released the indie-folk album Oblivion full of heartfelt ballads like “Darling” and “Mind Reader.” The gentle, stripped-back songs feel like swaying lullabies that comfort you with Lou’s reflective lyrics on self-confidence and romance.

Phantogram, known for songs like “Black Out Days” and “When I’m Small,” released a new album titled Memory of a Day. The trip-hop, electronic rock duo continues their musical journey of blaring synths and buzzing drum sounds. They also released a single, “Earthshaker,” that matches Memory of a Day’s sound and carries a driving bassline.

Indie rock band Kind of Like Spitting released I DO IT FOR MY CITY, their first album in 10 years. Having been highly influential in the emo rock scene since the 90s, it is great to hear a more mature but equally gritty and emotional sound. Fans of King Krule or Duster will find a welcoming sound in “JOUHATSU” or “HAIKU,” and anyone that enjoys a melodic groove and swanky guitar tones would like “SCRAMS ON A BOAT.”

PinkPantheress dropped Fancy Some More?, an extended version of her third studio album Fancy That, with remixes featuring artists like rapper Anitta, K-Pop group Seventeen, and experimental hip-hop artist Bladee. The extended album includes an additional 22 alternate versions of songs, capturing a wider range of house and EDM tracks.

With the wide variety of this month’s music there is sure to be an autumnal soundtrack for all types of listeners this season.
