When you think about it, cats make good pets. They are furry, cuddly, and all around adorable. However there is a bigger, unseen benefit of owning a cat. Owning a cat can help to ease stress and create a sense of calm. Talking to your cat can distract you from any stressful emotion you are feeling. For people on the Autism spectrum, cats can be comforting for tactile activity and cats body language can be easy for individuals to understand to boost social communication. Cats can also boost physical and heart health.
Owning cats has helped me to some extent as well. When I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I sometimes talk to many cats, as silly as that seems, and it helps me to calm down. I think that cats can help us to live an easier, more stress-free life.
