Ever since she was a little girl, Kylie Perry has been performing for crowds and audiences to see, putting her skills on display and wowing crowds. She first started out performing at Yulupa Elementary School when her class participated in compulsory plays and musicals for her friends and family. Performing in these class productions inspired her to audition for the school musicals at Madrone Elementary, after she had to transfer from Yulupa. Perry performed in only two of Madrone's school musicals, before the Covid-19 school closures tragically cut her elementary career short.

When she moved onto junior high, she chose to continue performing and joined the performing arts program at Rincon Valley Middle School, doing a variety of performances such as singing, dancing, and acting.

To this day, Perry continues performing in plays and musicals, starring in multiple performances at 6th Street Playhouse, performing arts theater center and has been for the past five years. She has been in several popular musicals like Shrek: The Musical, Beetlejuice, and her personal favorite, Newsies. She says her favorite part about performing is “having a good monologue, [and making] people cry. That’s really fun.”

Not only does Perry perform outside of school, she is also a part of the Maria Carrillo Encore program, having performed in several of the Maria Carrillo dance shows. She has been in the Maria Carrillo Encore program every year since she first arrived as a freshman. Perry took Ethnic Studies Dance one her freshman year, intermediate dance two her sophomore and junior year, and moving on to advanced dance next year for her concluding senior year of high school.

Joining the performing arts program has “made me a lot more confident and has really helped me find myself and know I can be who I am, and people will still love me for it.” She really enjoys “the rush” of performing in front of an audience and says that because she joined performing arts, she has “figured out how to find good friends and how to know my self worth, and be confident. and love all parts of myself.” Perry says her main motivation to keep performing is that “You gotta pursue what makes you happy.”
